What It Means To Be A Boss Lady

“A woman with vision is unstoppable, a woman who is always increasing her skills multiplies. Along with passion, this woman is undeniable” -Janna Cachola.

We are in a generation of awareness of self-potential and recognition of just how limitless we can be in contributing our quota to the world and leaving a mark; gender regardless.

Most of the entrepreneurs and founders of small and large businesses in Nigeria are women, they happen to be more business-oriented hence more creative. Many of the reformers in government, private sectors and trailblazers are women; boss women.
But being a female business owner even in the 21st Century can be very daunting especially in our society where women have been far too comfortable in the backseat for far too long.

It comes with responsibilities, expectations and a firm grip on your ideas and goals before success becomes yours.
So you want to know what it takes to be a boss lady in Nigeria? Here are 5 things a boss lady always is:

-Focused and determined- “Buckle up, and know that it’s going to be a tremendous amount of work, but embrace it.” – Tory Burch.
It is definitely not going to easy what with gender disparity in the workplace still an issue but nothing is impossible with the proper amount of zeal and focus. A boss lady zooms in on what exactly she wants, focuses on her aims amidst the sayings of ‘nay she can’t do it’ and despite the hurdles, sets to achieve her goals because as Sarah Michelle Gellar said,
“If you have an idea, you have to believe in yourself or no one else will.”

Passionate- “What I do for my work is exactly what I would do if nobody paid me.” – Gretchen Rubin.
She knows hard work can take her far, but it’s passion that will take her there. She chases her dreams because she believes it’s her mission in life, her legacy, because she is a woman who must leave an effect in the world in the little way she knows how and not for frivolous reason so that even if it gets tough, she will still have her passion as the driving force.

Productive- When pursuing her dreams a boss lady aims to be productive, so that every single step, every single achievement is shelved as a milestone. She doesn’t count her riches, she counts the impact she makes on lives and society.

Empowering – The boss lady is one who erects a ladder on her way up to facilitate the climb of others. She is always ready to hold out a hand of help, she is always willing to be the mentor, the adviser, the believer of dreams and the enabler of good in others.
The boss lady believes that it is only when she empowers others that her legacy will truly stay alive.

Authentic- The most successful, the ones whose impact is felt most are the ones who are original and authentic.
She knows to think outside of the box and beyond.
She doesn’t follow the trend, she sets it. She is always aiming for new heights and creating new opportunities. A boss lady is not a copy cat.
“Smile and Slay. You have to slay it in life or life will slay you”-Janna Cachola. She is a woman who knows what she wants and goes for it, and she never fails to slay while at it.
